Apple is preparing to unveil its new iPhone lineup next week, which will include the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro. If you're deciding between the two, here's an overview of the main advantages the iPhone 16 Pro offers compared to the regular iPhone 16, even though the models this year are more alike than ever before.
Iphone 16 pro - Bigger display.
A significant update for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max is the increase in display size. The iPhone 16 Pro will expand from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, while the Pro Max will grow from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will retain their current screen sizes of 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches. Additionally, the 120Hz ProMotion technology will continue to be exclusive to the Pro models.
If a larger screen is a top priority for you, the Pro models are the ideal choice. This is the first time since the iPhone 13 that the display sizes between the Pro and standard models have differed.
Titanium Design
The Pro models will also continue to stand out with their premium titanium design, which was introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro. Unlike some design features that eventually make their way to lower-end models, the titanium frame will remain unique to the Pro versions this year.
Camera
In terms of cameras, the iPhone 16 will have two lenses—a Main camera and an Ultra Wide camera—while the iPhone 16 Pro will offer three, adding a Telephoto lens to the mix. This year, the Telephoto camera with 5x zoom, which was only available on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, will be included in the iPhone 16 Pro as well. As a result, users won’t need to opt for the largest iPhone to get the most advanced camera system. Additionally, the Ultra Wide camera on the Pro will receive a significant upgrade, increasing from 12MP to 48MP. The iPhone 16, however, will keep the 12MP Ultra Wide lens.
Performance
Both models will be powered by Apple’s new A18 chip, but the iPhone 16 Pro will feature a more advanced version, the A18 Pro. While full details on the differences are yet to emerge, the A18 Pro is expected to have a 6-core GPU, while the A18 will have a 5-core GPU. The Pro version is also rumored to come with a more powerful Neural Engine, which could pave the way for more advanced AI features in the future.
Wrap up
Another similarity this year is the addition of the Capture button across all models, along with the expansion of the Action button to the entire lineup. However, the iPhone 16 Pro continues to differentiate itself through key features like its superior camera system and processing power.
